AS68RC TransmissionThe Aisin AS66RC is a six-speed automatic transmission that was developed and manufactured by Aisin-Warner. Aisin-Warner was a joint venture between the Japanese manufacturer Aisin Seiki and American drivetrain specialist BorgWarner. In 2007, Chrysler began using the AS68RC for trucks in their commercial lineup with the introduction of the 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel engine.
The AS68RC transmission was available only for the Ram 3500, 4500, and 5500 chassis cab models. The AS68RC was replaced by the AS69RC for the 2013 model year, extending its availability for 3500 models. In 2014, Ram Trucks started to use the AS66RC in trucks with chassis cabs. The AS69RC and AS66RC transmissions are nearly identical to one another. The AS69RC is also similar to the AS68RC, but the major difference being a small difference in the 1st & 2nd ratios, as well as the suggested input torque of the AS69RC, is slightly greater.
